This recipe is the BEST and easiest way I have found to make a fully homemade pie. You can substitute ANY fillings... but always make sure to use the fresh or frozen stuff. Canned pie filling just doesn't do this pie justice;-) Do not use Delicious or Granny Smith apples.
Ingredients
  • Pie Crust:
  • 2c. flour
  • 1½ tsp. salt
  • take out ⅓ c. mixture- set aside.
  • 1 c. butter Crisco in flour/salt mixture
  • ¼ c. cold water into the ⅓ c. mixture that was taken out
  • work into paste & mix with fork
  • Put two together and work together with fork
  • Divide into two and roll each to fit your pie plate
  • Pie Filling:
  • 6 c. apples
  • ½-3/4 c. sugar
  • cinnamon (about 2- 2½ tsp)
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Peel and slice your apples.
  3. Place your one rolled out pie crust into a sprayed pie plate.
  4. Fill with the apple filling or whatever filling to decide. Raspberry peach is AMAZING too.
  5. Cover with second rolled out pie crust and tuck the top crust under the bottom along the edges.
  6. Don't worry about how it looks because now you will use a fork and press around the outside edge all the way around the pie to seal it... and to make it look pretty.
  7. Cut a few holes in the top of the pie for ventilation. Make it pretty if you like;-)
  8. Spread butter on top lightly.
  9. Sprinkle with a cinnamon/sugar mixture.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes
